HIJOBS is an independent job site promoting employment in the north of Scotland. It aims to offer candidates the best experience in finding their next job and employers a free platform to find the best candidates.

Linnhe Creative was responsible for developing their site with brand new approach to job board software. It’s tactility and ease of use belies a hugely powerful and scalable system.

Marine Harvest Apps

Marine Harvest recently attended the Queen’s Coronation Festival at Buckingham Palace, a prestigious event where Royal Warrant holders attended to showcase the finest of British produce. As part of the company’s stand, Linnhe Creative produced a range of apps to provide a compelling and exciting interactive element to help it stand out at the event and catch the attention of the public.

Specifically, the brief was to create a small game to provide entertainment to younger audiences as well as a recipe app with a variety of exciting ideas to cook Scottish Salmon.

The aesthetic approach combined with the high quality imagery, provided a compelling accompaniment at the Coronation Festival.

In a marketplace that is very varied in terms of both software and devices, creating something that is accessible, functional and a pleasure to use – in a short time frame – is a challenge. Despite this, the products deliver and exceed over and above rivals in the app arena, whilst still reaching a broad user base on a wide spread of platforms and devices.

Stag Infrastructure

Stag Infrastructure provides a wide range of construction, fencing and land management services and required a new website to highlight their range of projects, including some of the biggest industrial developments of late in the West of Scotland.

The site holds a large library of images that give visitors a great insight into the quality of their workmanship and has an adaptive layout that optimises the display for the user’s screen size and device type.

Bunroy Park

New website for a fantastic Highland retreat in Roy Bridge, near Fort William. Bunroy has a picturesque caravan and campsite in a secluded spot next to the river Spean, as well as a number of self catering Holiday lodges nestling within the trees.

We designed a brand new website to showcase the park, provide an easy means for the owners to keep the site fresh and up to date and link in with their facebook page.

Around a third of the visitors to the site were from smartphones or tablet computers, so we built optimised views to cater for these users with the best experience for their displays.

City A.M. Careers

City A.M. Careers is a new jobsite harnessing CityA.M.’s influential readership in London, ensuring the best quality of candidates see the best jobs in the market.

Linnhe Creative designed and developed an agile platform with innovative features such as

  • Flexible design layout which alters to provide the best display experience on smartphones, tablets and conventional displays
  • Third party API to provide multi-posting software support for clients such as Broadbean, Idibu and Logic Melon
  • High performance configuration providing page speed in the top 20th percentile.
  • Powerful browse and search features with dynamic RSS feeds and email alerts.

What they said:

“We spoke to several web development businesses before settling on Linnhe Creative. They are a testament to the fact that location is irrelevant when it comes to high quality development and they have a work ethic which is unfaultable. We gave Chris and his team a very tough brief for a new site, built from scratch and to a deadline which could not be missed. They were professional, efficient, relaxed and honest all the way through the build, test and launch process and have won plenty of respect from a group of highly commercial individuals who expect high standards at al times. I cannot recommend Linnhe Creative more highly – and all at price that was considerably less than London based agencies.”

iPhone Applications

We’ve recently launched a set of iOS applications for our About Highlands marketing platform – a piece of software which can be downloaded and installed on the Apple iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.

The iOS platform is one which we believe to be head and shoulders above competitors in terms of the mobile user experience, especially in the widespread accessibility it has given users to useful, engaging software.

Within our applications we have given new context the the huge wealth of existing data on our websites and offers users an opportunity to find out what’s nearby, from attractions and activities to where to stay and the best restaurants as well as special offers and deals to be had. It’s lightweight too, so works well in areas with even the weakest mobile signal.

Starfish Designs

Starfish hand make beautiful lever harps and electric bowed instruments from their workshop in North Ballachulish. We were delighted to work with Dave and Mike to produce their new website that would supercede their long standing bone-of-contention builder software website. The project saw new branding produced by Lamont Design and detailed photography of the instrument craftsmanship from Glencoe Photography. The end result is a unique showcase worthy of their products.

The site is fully content managed with every detail being in the clients control, married with a robust design flexible enough to support the CMS. It’s split into two distinct subdomains to reflect the business strategy to serve the different markets of harps and electric instruments. The entrance benefits from full screen scaled image slideshows of some of the stunning images of instruments.

The modular architecture allows for future plans to incorporate an e-Commerce facility that will sell accessories, as well as being able to support any other future business opportunities or prospects.

Kingairloch Highland Estate

“Kingairloch is a 14,000 Acre Highland Estate located on the Morvern Peninsula in an unspoilt area of beauty on the West Coast of Scotland lying on the banks of Loch Linnhe.

Kingairloch offers an enviable location where the mountains meet the sea creating some of the most stunning landscapes, whatever the weather may bring. The estate is also home to a wide and diverse wildlife population from the Eagles of the sky to the Red Deer grazing the hills below.”

The Highland Soap Company

“We are a family run Scottish soap company, our natural skin care products are made with an emphasis on organic, fresh wild harvested ingredients and herbal therapy in the heart of the Scottish Highlands.

Where every stone, tree and river has our richly romantic and heroic history embedded within.”

SHFL Fixtures Calculator

The Scottish Highland Football League approached Linnhe Creative with an issue they faced in creating their league fixtures table.

Their existing methods involved customising the output from a Microsoft Access-based software package to achieve the layout of games required. However a problem arose when specific matches were added, such as during Christmas and New Year when local teams played each other in “Home Derbies”. The software was unable then to build the optimal number of games per fixture date and as result extended the season further than need be and on occasion left some teams without a match.

We developed a custom algorithm to overcome the problem; creating the optimal layout while incorporating the set fixture requirements. This was packaged into a lightweight Windows application that allowed multiple league setups and configuration, direct export of data into dynamically customised Excel spread sheets and an installer so it could be deployed on multiple machines.

This saved the administration teams around 50 hours a year in creating the league structure and the system’s flexibility allows it to be used to create other fixtures such as youth leagues. The application works on all Windows XP or later computers.

Jane Blanchard Design

Highly regarded interior designer Jane Blanchard required an update to her website to better reflect the wide range of projects she has completed and to showcase the detail of her works. She also needed something that would provide a useful tool to her clients, so included is a fully bespoke sample gallery where visitors can view all Jane’s suppliers and easily purchase scheme suggestions or submit sample board requests.

The build of the site was done with from scratch with MVC so we could achieve the specific bespoke requirements; a categorised gallery of suppliers and an individual ecommerce journey for sales of services. With a variety of techniques we were able to create a smooth, responsive user experience that retained visitors as they browse suppliers and record detail of a sample request. Around this we built ecommerce elements which captured all the information needed to allow the client to provide sample services quickly, through an entirely electronic process.

What Jane said:

“I could easily have ticked all the Top Attributes boxes! My new website went live last year and I am 100% delighted with it – my only problem now is that I have TOO MUCH WORK! I approached Linnhe Creative just after they had finished our Community website,, on which they had also done an absolutely cracking job. Chris Snelgrove – the charming and creative genius behind Linnhe Creative – is a young, dynamic website designer, who takes time to listen to your requirements and gain an in-depth knowledge of how your company works and the market you are aiming for. He then comes up with an initial concept/layout that forms the basis of the website development. Chris was always patient and willing when I wanted to do things that were technically complicated – indeed, he embraced and evidently enjoyed the challenge of trying out something new, which made the whole process very exciting and enjoyable. I am especially pleased with the Samples Request page, which was a difficult concept to make easily workable for the end-user. Chris’s motto would have been “where there’s a will, there’s a way” and he definitely has the will and the skill to make Linnhe Creative the successful company it deserves to be”
